IPCA: inflation accelerates to 0.89% in November, highest for the month in 5 years

Pressured by the hike in food and fuel prices, the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), considered the country’s official inflation rate, advanced 0.89% in November, above the 0.86% rate of October, according to the IBGE. Despite the acceleration, official inflation is still within the existing tolerance range. Under the current rule, the IPCA could range from 2.5% to 5.5% this year without formally breaching the target.

Deforestation in the Amazon falls 45% in November, says Defense

Warnings of deforestation in the Legal Amazon fell 45% in November, which means the third consecutive month of decline compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Defence said. According to the ministry, from August to November the accumulated reduction in deforestation was 19%.
