Government auction 22 airports today and expects to raise $33 mm

Will be auctioned on Wednesday (7) airports of well-known cities and capitals in Brazil. The expectation is to raise at least R$ 186 million ($33 mm). The auctions are scheduled to begin at 10am. This is the 6th round of airport concessions. In total, 22 airports will be auctioned, grouped in three blocks. With the sale, they will be run by the private sector for a period of 30 years.

Brazil in 8th place in real-time transactions

The creation of instant payment system Pix by the Central Bank four months ago made Brazil climb one position among the countries that generate the most real-time transactions last year, reaching the eighth place and surpassing the United States. There were 1.3 billion transactions in 2020, a 58% increase over those recorded in 2019, shows a new global report from ACI Worldwide and GlobalData. The countries ahead of Brazil are India, China, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and Japan.

Santos Brasil forecasts a growth of up to 20% in container volume in 2021

Santos Brasil has released its projections for 2021 with an increase of 11% to 20% in container volume, shows a document sent to the market. In addition, the company foresees an increase of up to 112% in Ebitda, which measures the operating result, in 2021 to R$ 450 million ($80 mm). The company expects to invest up to R$ 300 million ($53 mm) in its operations this year.

EDP invests $715k in the fight against the second wave of Covid-19

EDP is allocating an additional R$ 4 million ($715k), amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, for initiatives in the fields of health and fight against hunger, in the states of São Paulo and Espírito Santo. According to the company, the first initiative is the support to Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da USP (HCFMUSP) in the hiring of health professionals who will reinforce the assistance to Covid-19 patients.

Agroconsult sees Brazil soybean exports in 2021 with 85 million tons

Brazil’s soybean exports are expected to reach around 85 million tonnes in 2021, consultancy Agroconsult said on Tuesday, raising its estimate from the 83 million tonnes seen in January. Meanwhile, the country’s corn shipments tend to reach 34.3 million tonnes this year, the company added during an event to present the results of the Crop Rally.
